„Memory project 1956/2021” c. dokumentumfilm vetítése

65 évvel az 1956-os magyar forradalom után a Szovjetunió zsarnoksága elleni első és legjelentősebb felkelés szemtanúi mesélik el személyes történeteiket a túlélésről és az ellenállásról. A Memory Project 1956/2021 a 2015-ben alapított, hasonló nevet viselő, Memory Project Archívumhoz készült élettörténeti interjúk összeállítása. A több mint tíz országot és három kontinenst átölelő online archívum jelenleg 150 interjút tartalmaz.

Ez a forradalom évfordulójára készült filmösszeállítás lenyűgöző történeteket mutat be olyan emberek tolmácsolásában, akik 1956-ban menekültek Nyugatra, elsősorban az Egyesült Államokba. A film szereplői az élet számos területét képviselik. Az interjúalanyok között megismerkedhetünk sokféle emberrel, a Napa-völgyi borásztól kezdve, Richard M. Daley személyi fotósán keresztül az Intel társalapítójáig. A megszólalók mesélnek a forradalom előtti ötvenes évekről, magáról a felkelésről és arról, hogy milyen módon és miért menekültek el az országból. Elmondják, hogy személyesen mit is jelent számukra 1956.

Screening the „Memory Project 1956/2021” documentary and stroll in the park

More than 60 years after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, the first and most significant uprising against the tyranny of the Soviet Union, eyewitnesses share their personal stories of survival and resilience. ‘Memory Project’ is a compilation of life-history interviews conducted by Andrea Lauer Rice and Réka Pigniczky for the eponymous Memory Project Archive,  which they founded in 2015. Spanning 10 countries and three continents, the online archive currently houses over 150 interviews.

The compilation film, created to mark the 65th anniversary of the revolution, includes compelling stories  from those who fled in 1956 to the West i, primarily to the U.S. The narrators come from all walks of life – ranging from Intel’s co-founder  through a vintner in the Napa Valley all the way to Richard M. Daley’s personal photographer. The witnesses describe the years leading up to the revolutionthe uprising itself, recall how they decided to flee their homeland, and attest to what 1956 still means to them today.
